Precision Laser [Mole Removal] tailored to the size and depth of the mole
This laser procedure considers the size, shape, and depth of the mole, as well as whether it's raised and if it has reappeared after previous removal. We utilize CO2 laser and Erbium-YAG laser according to the mole's condition, focusing on minimizing skin irritation and scarring, and delicately removing the necessary areas. *VAT separate

Treatment Approach Using Two Lasers
Milia are lesions caused by the excessive proliferation of melanin cells in the epidermis or dermis of the skin.
While they may appear as simple pigmentations on the surface, the treatment approach varies depending on the actual depth and location of the mole.
Erbium YAG laser precisely shaves off the skin surface, making it suitable for removing shallow moles in the epidermis with minimal skin burden.
This procedure can reduce the risk of scarring and lead to aesthetically pleasing results, making it particularly suitable for facial mole removal. Subsequently, the process of finishing the root part of the mole with heat using a CO2 laser helps remove melanin cells that may remain in deeper layers, thereby reducing the possibility of mole recurrence. This lowers the chance of 'recurrent moles' that re-grow from root cells even after the surface has disappeared.
Particularly in the following situations, a finishing treatment using CO2 laser can be considered:
- When the mole is slightly raised or feels thick to the touch
- If there is a history of a mole recurring in the same area
- When it is suspected to be a nevus located in the deep dermal layer, such as a blue mole or a grayish-brown mole
Flat warts are viral skin lesions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They characteristically spread widely in the epidermal layer and appear as small, thin, flat, brownish or skin-colored forms visible to the naked eye. They are prone to occur when immunity is low, and early management is necessary as there is a risk of self-spreading through touch.
Erbium YAG laser can help to evenly ablate the epidermal layer. Therefore, it can be used to manage widely spread flat wart lesions
in a single session. It is possible to remove lesions uniformly while minimizing skin burden. However, due to the nature of viral lesions, there is a possibility of recurrence if only the superficial lesions are removed. In such cases, the finishing process of applying thermal stimulation to the area around the lesion using a CO2 laser can play a clinically important role in reducing the recurrence rate by additionally coagulating potential virus-infected cells in and around the epidermal layer.
A CO2 laser finishing treatment may be particularly meaningful in the following situations:
- If the borders of the lesion are unclear or feel flat and spread out to the touch, or for individuals with weakened immunity due to stress or lack of sleep
- If there has been a history of multiple recurrences
- When the lesion is on areas prone to frequent contact or easy spreading, such as hands or face
Milia are lesions that appear as small, white cysts when keratin protein is trapped within the skin. They primarily occur around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and unlike sebaceous cysts, they are classified as benign lesions unrelated to infection or inflammation.
Erbium YAG laser can be effectively used for milia removal. It precisely ablates the skin surface to remove the thin epidermal layer of the milia and creates a safe通道 (passage) for the trapped keratin to be discharged. Subsequently, a light finishing coagulation with a CO2 laser can help reduce the possibility of residual keratinocytes re-proliferating, thereby preventing milia from repeatedly forming in the same area. However, excessive thermal stimulation to the skin can cause hyperpigmentation, requiring precise intensity control.
Situations where CO2 laser finishing treatment can be particularly considered are as follows:
- When milia repeatedly reappear in the same location
- If there was a history of recurrence during the regeneration process after a previous procedure
- When a more even result is desired during the recovery process after removing multiple milia
Syringomas are benign lesions caused by the abnormal proliferation of sweat glands (eccrine glands) in the dermal layer. They are characterized by multiple small, bead-like growths appearing under the eyes, on the cheeks, and forehead, and are often observed in women in their 20s and 30s or those with genetic factors.
Due to its characteristic ability to thinly and precisely remove the epidermal layer, Erbium YAG laser is utilized for managing syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes. It refines the skin surface, removes the upper tissue of the sweat gland lesions, and promises aesthetically satisfying results with less likelihood of scarring or hyperpigmentation during recovery. Subsequently, a finishing treatment that applies heat with a CO2 laser to deliver
micro-thermal stimulation to the deeper part of the lesion can clinically help reduce the activity of sweat glands in the dermis and
prevent syringomas from re-proliferating in the same area. However, due to the depth of the lesion, repeated treatments may be necessary.
In the following cases, considering a CO2 laser finishing treatment together can provide additional benefits for management:
- When multiple syringomas are relatively deeply seated under the eyes or on the cheeks
- If there has been a history of recurrence despite receiving multiple laser treatments previously
- When aiming for a higher expectation of recurrence prevention with a single treatment
Skin tags are benign lesions resulting from the excessive proliferation of fibrous tissue and blood vessels in the dermal layer. They commonly occur in skin folds such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and on the eyelids, appearing as small, skin-colored protrusions. They are painless but can be irritated by friction. Generally, CO2 laser can be effectively used for skin tag excision. It has cutting and hemostatic capabilities, helping to remove multiple lesions relatively quickly. However, for small and thin skin tags, precisely ablating the lesion first with an Erbium YAG laser and then finishing the root part of the lesion with CO2 laser coagulation can help remove the deep tissue of the skin tag, thereby reducing the possibility of recurrence in that area. Thermal stimulation influences fibrous cells and microvessels within the tissue, contributing to the management of the regenerative environment.
Situations where considering a CO2 laser finishing treatment together may be useful are as follows:
- When skin tags are in areas of frequent friction, such as the neck or armpits
- If there is a history of skin tags recurring in the same area after previous removal
- If the root of the lesion is deep and wide (a form that leaves a thick mark even after removal)
As such, tailored to the depth and characteristics of skin lesions,
the 'Dual Laser Treatment Approach',
which uses two types of lasers together,
is a method that helps increase satisfaction with treatment results.
How long should I keep DuoDERM (reparative sticker) on after mole removal?
Since mole removal procedures involve a delicate exfoliation of the skin's surface, they can leave small wounds on the skin.
Properly protecting and managing these treated areas is a crucial step in recovery.
Specifically, maintaining the treated area in an appropriately moist condition aids in skin regeneration and can reduce the formation of scars.
Therefore, we recommend applying a Duoderm dressing, which is made of hydrocolloid material.
Duoderm helps maintain a moist environment for the wound, assisting the natural regeneration of cells and preventing unnecessary scabs, thereby contributing to a reduced chance of scar formation.
It is recommended to apply Duoderm immediately after mole removal, change it every 3 to 5 days, and continue management for at least 7 days.
The overall management period can be considered approximately 10 days.
If using Duoderm is uncomfortable or causes an allergic reaction, other management methods can be considered. It is necessary to frequently apply regenerating cream or moisturizing gel to prevent dryness, and to diligently use sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher. Additionally, care must be taken not to touch the wound directly.
Post-mole removal care goes beyond simply healing the wound; it is a crucial step that significantly impacts the final outcome of the procedure.
Insufficient care can lead to unwanted scars, making consistent attention after the procedure important.
At our clinic, we provide detailed explanations of post-procedure care methods to ensure that those who have received treatment can recover healthily.
